The Pug

There are a number of breeds of dogs out there that a person can consider when he or she decides to have a pet. They say that the dog a person chooses will often reflect the personality of a person. Or probably he or she thinks the dog is just cute. One of the most popular dogs that people would like to have is a pug. Maybe this dog has become more famous thanks to the movie Men in Black. Let’s try to learn more about the pug and see if this dog is really the one for you.

The pug has been called as a lot of dog in a very small place or Multo in Parvo. This is because even though pugs are very small they provide a lot of enthusiasm and love. These small lovely dogs started out as imperial guard dogs in ancient China.

This dog may be a very ancient breed but nothing much has changed regarding its appearance. Among the toy-breeds, they are the largest and have a well developed musculature and compact head. Their heads are rounding, massive, with square muzzles that are short and have a very wrinkly forehead. They also have prominent eyes, very straight legs, and a very tightly twisted tail. Their fur is very sleek and soft and comes in black, fawn, apricot, or silver. The pug’s height is usually 10-11 inches tall and usually weighs 14 to 22 pounds.

The pug is a very affectionate dog. They are very lovable. These dogs also possess great charm and dignity. They are very outgoing with a very mischievous and clever way of thinking. These dog’s love company and would love to be a person’s best friend. It will even sulk when it gets left behind out of any activities.

These dogs are great as companions in your household. They will even curl at your lap when they need a nap. However these dogs are also great watchdogs and great companion for your playful child as well.

Pugs are easy to groom because of their smooth silky hair. You can just use a firm bristle brush or comb. The pug also only needs shampooing when necessary. The only grooming that should be done regularly is to clean the pug’s wrinkles to prevent facial fold dermatitis and moisture accumulation. Pugs will not be very happy on places that are hot, cold or humid. This is because of their short square muzzles. In the summer or winter months, pugs should not be left outside or inside your car.

Pugs are very easy to train because they are very smart. Ordinary obedience commands will do. Remember these pugs main purpose in life is to please their owners. If you think you can be able to handle the active lifestyle of a pug and would need a loving companion this dog may be right for you.
