Personality and Temperament of the Boerboel
Intelligence, obedience and reliability are the most redeeming aspects of the Boerboel’s temperament. This canine has assiduous watch dog tendencies. As fierce as they may be in protecting their owner’s territory, they are as equivocally loving and playful toward their master.

As long as they are familiar with they children they are interacting with the Boerboel is docile. Since the Boerboel can be an overbearing protector, they may exude extreme aggressive behavior when walking down the street.

Proper introduction is needed when friends visit. In fact the Boerboel will watch the stranger with an astute eye. As far as other domesticated pets are concerned, the breed will get along.

Due to the size of the Boerboel, apartment living is not very conducive for the breed. In fact, these dogs can live outside. An enclosed outdoor space is necessary because they are not friendly to strangers.

The Boerboel’s ideal living condition is a vast backyard to play and run. Their favorite activity is a decent round of fetch the ball.

Grooming tip: Grooming the Boerboel requires a monthly bath and an occasional brushing.
